if it would make dakota blue richards love me, I totally would.

I sent a letter to JK Rowling in sixth grade and she sent me back a picture of herself and a automated type of letter.

when i was 12 or so, i sent a letter to The Pleasant Company, makers of American Girl Dolls, which were my fav for years. i addressed it to my favourite of the dolls, the now-discontinued Samantha. by 12, i knew she wasn’t real, but i assumed this company i loved so much, that took such great pains to educate and pay attention to detail would have some procedure set up to respond to letters. and i assumed that that procedure would include some sort of fancy stationary.

truth be told, i didn’t even have that high of hopes for this, and i usually had high hopes for EVERYTHING back then. i thought, at best, it would be a form letter written in a clearly fake handwriting font, but i was down for that.

what i got back was a letter from The Pleasant Company that basically said, Samantha isn’t real, thanks for your letter!

i was super pissed. no wonder they sold out to Mattel.
